West Sound Technical Skils Center

< Back to Portfolio

From a 1977 facility to a 120,000-square-foot modern campus—supporting 14 technical programs and students from 10 school districts.

The West Sound Technical Skills Center Improvement Project (WSTSC) delivers a major expansion and renovation of the original 70,000-square-foot facility built in 1977. The project increased the total improved area to approximately 120,000 square feet, creating space for up to 14 highly technical academic programs serving 11th- and 12th-grade students from ten surrounding school districts.

The 13.67-acre campus was comprehensively upgraded to improve school bus circulation, separate vehicle parking, mitigate stormwater, and provide new utility connections. Frontage and off-site improvements were completed in coordination with the City of Bremerton. All construction was performed on an occupied site, with academic programs remaining operational throughout, requiring carefully orchestrated, phased construction.

The completed improvements addressed life-safety and code upgrades, ADA compliance, campus security, and more efficient space allocation to support both existing and expanded program offerings. The modernized facility was designed with flexibility in mind, allowing programs to adapt as career pathways and workforce demands continue to evolve. These capital improvements now provide students with hands-on learning environments that prepare them for success in the local workforce, strengthening both individual career outcomes and the regional economy.
